Hot Fridays

Some recent footage from the Hot Mondays night in Kingston. Really like the vibes on this. It's shot nice and intimately, and you get a good look at some of the colourful fashion that's hot inna dancehall at the moment.

Watch starlight go off at 3.35.

Big big tune, really feeling it. Mavado and the Genius again. Lotta niceness on this one.

Symphonies Of Sickness

Just more of that 2010 good sh*t from our man Raffertie. Can't believe these trax, whas he on cuz? You should get ready for a brain storm.

Loony bizniz. I rate all of this very highly, nuffin long, boring, uninspired or predictable goin on here. No, no ,no.

It's worth mentioning that this is only the second release so far from bad boy label Special Branch, who put this Sarantis biggy out back in '08.

"The whole thing I think it's sick."

Nothing is so beautiful...

Whimsically welcoming in the end of winter,
which comes early this year.

Apparently.

A Forest

“The smell of corpses, distinctly perceptible under those of grass and humus mingled, I do not find unpleasant, a trifle on the sweet side perhaps, a trifle heady, but how infinitely preferable to what the living emit.”

In a graveyard I have been, a body I have seen.
From the sharp moon I have dreamed, that body was me.

Pure Silk

Smooth and lovely '98 roller for all the UKG mans dem.

I just love everything about this tune, right from the start.

For those who don't know, DJ Phantasy and Steve Gurley have been around since crazy 'azy 'ardkore days (Phantasy was on the buttons for '92 tunes like this - whose Ultramagnetic MC sample was more recently slowed the fuck down and re-e-sampled by man like Loe fah - and Gurley was one third of Foul Play...) To my knowledge they're both still producing and playing out today. Now that shit is hardcore.

Nuff nuum shit obviously going on in there, in case you missed it.

Take note Simon Reynolds, if you ever read this.

I read your book...

Soaring Pulse Rates

Pulse FM. Following the evolution of one of the hardest basslines to ever hit the dancefloor.

From this, to this, to this, to this, EVERY good DJ should have one.

"It’s a mistake to appraise Ardkore in terms of individual tracks, because this music only really takes effect as total flow. Its meta-music
pulse is closer to electricity than anything else."

Love Cry Me A River

Copped this t'other day.

Fatty Roska remix of some Four Tet tune released late last year.

Sound's good innit.

"You know that new sound you're looking for? Well, listen to this."

This ere new 12" from long term bad boy muziq-label Planet Mu is absolutely what it's all about.

Beats, bass, body, mind, past, present, future - whatever you wanna talk about, u DUN KNOW it's all in there.

Next shit.

Raffertie im pon fire.

Serious.

"If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits the dance... you're gonna see some serious shit."
